Product Description A deformed bellringer must assert his independence from a vicious government minister in order to help his friend a gypsy dancing girl. Amazon.com The misconception about this animated film from Disney was that it was a movie for kids--something Victor Hugo never had in mind. In fact, despite a cute brace of singing gargoyles who are Quasimodo's (Tom Hulce) best friends, this version of Hugo's classic tale is really adult entertainment, with a strong set of songs by Alan Menken. The story remains mostly the same (though tricked out with a happier ending than Hugo's): Quasimodo, the ward of repressive monk Frollo, falls for a gypsy girl named Esmerelda (Demi Moore)--though she loves one of the king's guards (Kevin Kline). But they are all put in jeopardy by the wicked Frollo, whose secret passion for Esmerelda leads him to seek her death. At times too dark and even a shade kinky, something that may scare younger viewers. --Marshall Fine

Hunchback of Notre Dam October 23, 2008 Lynne M. Igarta (Tucson, AZ) This is one of my absolute favorite Disney movies, as well as my daughter's (who dressed up like Esmerelda 3 Halloweens in a row!). She still has the scarf, which is like 13 years old!! Great movie!!
great movie October 14, 2008 Edward L. Jones (Nashville,TN) I think this is a great movie. I've read the book and its VERY deep. this movie is so much better to me.And I think they made the characters more likable. For example in the book phoebus is nothing but a womanizer and I cant help but not like him,in this movie i think hes great, mabey one of my favorite disney heros. This isnt a movie for really young kids i guess but,i watched it when i was little and it never bothered me,i didnt pay any attention to the bad stuff of the movie. I think this is one of the best disney movies I've ever seen.
